MEDISIEVE: An innovative way of curing deadly conditions is about to get tested on humans

Another important breakthrough was made a few days ago by the British, Dr George Frodsham concerning some deadly conditions, such as leukemia, malaria and sepsis.

Dr George Frodsham, the CEO of Medisieve, was an engineer studying how magnetic nanoparticles can be made to bind to cells in the body, when he started wondering if he could magnetize cells out of the blood. In particular, he emphasized on magnetizing cancer cells out of the blood.

Frodsham stated that “When someone has a tumor you cut it out, Blood cancer is a tumor in the blood, so why not just take it out in the same way?”. Does that sound intriguing to you? Of course, in theory the idea of magnetically absorbing lethal factors out of the human body sounds pretty mouth dropping.

This innovative procedure, soon to be tested on humans, has four steps and it is quite similar to dialysis. At first, tiny magnetic particles are injected into the circulating blood. The magnetic particles attach to invaders such as bacteria or viruses. Then, the newly magnetized particles are trapped in a magnetic trough. Finally, the disease-free blood flows back into the body.

Dr Alasdair Rankin revealed that “blood cancer cells don’t all circulate in the blood. Some stay in the bone marrow and lymph nodes and the only way to cure blood cancers like leukemia is to eliminate these cells completely – or the cancer will return”.  On a very fortunate note, Dr Rankin finds the idea of the filtration system pretty interesting and thinks that this new approach would reduce the use of drugs on the human body.

The good news is that lots of charities have showed a great amount of interest towards this promising project. The naked truth is that people want desperately to find cures for these diseases, so they are always positive about new methods of treatment.

Upon the arrival of 2020, trials on MediSieve will begin to patients with malaria to see if the device can remove sepsis-causing bacteria and boost the already damaged immune system.
